The Foster Wheeler Energie GmbH is part of Foster Wheeler AG and a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler Energia Oy Group. Foster Wheeler combines expertise, experienced personnel with cutting-edge technology. Foster Wheeler’s activities in this segment started with development work in the 1960s in a research and development laboratory in Finland. The company delivered its first stationary fluidized bed combustion in the 1970s and in 1979 the world's first circulating fluidized bed boiler (CFB) for power generation.
The company’s first second-generation CFB boiler design was launched in 1992; and the world’s first supercritical BENSON-CFB-Boiler supplied by Foster Wheeler reached the commissioning phase in the autumn 2008 and was passed to the customer in the summer of 2009.
Foster Wheeler CFBs are ideal for providing an environmentally friendly, economical, and effective solution with low emissions and with a high efficiency.
Unit sizes in the CFB area have increased from 5 MWe at the end of the 1970s to the 800 MWe size range offered in 2009.
